“That Kid”
In 1977, Stewart Levin broke into the session players’ scene in Hollywood. His trademark was tinkering, and he always had the best studio gear. When the synthesizer revolution of the 80’s began, Stewart was there riding the wave. He came up with the signature sounds of many popular television shows. He quickly became known as ‘that kid with the keyboards.’ Before long he was composing music for Emmy-award winning shows, such as ‘Thirtysomething’, ‘The Wonder Years’, ‘Picket Fences’ and ‘The Practice’.

Stewart built his own private studio and imported a Neve console and tape machine. This was the era of “hot rod analog” and Stewart once again was doing it better than anyone else. He recorded all around town at the biggest studios for several years.
In 1995 he hired an assistant by the name of Stephen Davis, who picked up the mantle of Stewart’s vision and ran with it. When ProTools exploded onto the audio scene, they were ready. With Stewart’s and Stephen’s know-how, they expanded into the field of music editorial and production. The studio was renovated to include two 5.1 surround rooms shortly afterward.
Since 1999 Stephen Davis has been providing a wide range of music editorial services for an extremely talented composer, Michael Giacchino. Due to Michael’s prolific nature, it became necessary to bring on the next generation of music and sound editors. Alex Levy and Paul Apelgren were brought in to the company in 2003 and 2005, both recent graduates of film school and students of sound. Their work ethic and emphasis in audio made a perfect match to Stephen and Stewart’s knowledge and experience, creating a diversely talented high tech team ready to take on anything.
